Irene Joyce Edwards, age 93, of 39 Fourth Street, Fieldale, died on April 29, 2012 at Memorial Hospital of Martinsville. She was born in Martinsville on November 19, 1918 to the late John Everett and Mattie Gravely Joyce. In addition to her parents she was preceeded in death by her husband, Thomas Edwards in 1997, and four brothers, James E. Joyce, William Joyce, John A. Joyce, and Jesse B. Joyce.
She was a member of Fieldale Baptist Church. She had retired from E.I. DuPont and Fieldcrest Mills.
She is survived by a daughter, Deanna Roettger of Fieldale, a brother Gary Dean Joyce of Fieldale, two grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
Her graveside funeral service will be held on Friday, May 4, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in the Roselawn Burial Park with Rev. Richard Harrison officiating the service. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service in the chapel of Roselawn.
