Hubert Lester Janey, age 91, of Fieldale, passed away on Wednesday, March 14, 2018 at the Forsyth Medical Center, Winston-Salem.  He was born in Bouissevain, VA on September 3, 1926 to the late John Lincoln and Maggie Gillespie Janey.  In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Elsie Via Janey, a son, Ronald L. Joyce, and his brothers, Richard, Roy, Ed, and Jim Janey.

Mr. Janey had worked as a Supervisor for American Furniture with over 42 years of service.  He was a WWII U.S. Army veteran with the Army of Occupation in Okinawa and Korea, where he received the WWII Victory Medal, Occupation Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and rose to the rank of TEC5. He was of the Primitive Baptist faith and was a member of the Woodmen of the World.

He is survived by his two sons, Danny Janey and wife Renee of Pilot Mt., NC, and Tony Janey and his girlfriend Valerie Blankenship of Fieldale, grandchildren, Timmy and Tracy Janey and great grandchildren, Tori Janey Eli Janey, Zack Oakes, and Hannah Janey, step-grandchildren, Kimberly Peeples, Chelsea Peeples, Ivy Gibson, and Lee Joyce, step-great grandchildren, Anna Peeples and Bella Peeples.

His funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 17, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Roselawn Funeral Home with Rev. Chad Janey officiating the service.  Interment will follow in the Roselawn Burial Park with military honors by the Martinsville Henry County Veterans Honor Guard.  The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service on Saturday and at other times at the home, 2347 Dillons Fork Road, Fieldale.
