Herman Henry Powell age 88 of Martinsville passed away Friday Sept. 15, 2017 at Martinsville Health & Rehab. He was born Sept. 6, 1929 in Martinsville to the late Howard and Geneva Hite Powell. In addition to his parents, he was also predeceased by his spouse Lillian T. Powell in 2009, one brother, Dan Powell, and one sister Edna Daniels.

Mr. Powell was a member of McCabe Memorial Baptist Church, and retired from Fieldcrest Mills.

He is survived by his daughter Darlene Wheatland of Gainesville, VA, one brother, Bayness Powell of Florida, one sister, Magdaline Wray of Danville, VA, one granddaughter, Dawn Wheatland, of Centerville, VA and one great grandson, Caleb Wheatland of Centerville, VA.

His funeral service will be Monday Sept. 18, 2017 at 2:00 PM in McCabe Memorial Baptist Church with Dr. G.H. Vaughn officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Burial Park. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service in the church.
