Henry Thornton Shiflett's Obituary
Henry Thornton Shiflett, 96, of Martinsville died on Tuesday, December 19, 2017.
He was born September 5, 1921, in Augusta County, Virginia, and reared in Montgomery County, Virginia. His parents, Reverend Charles E. Shiflett and Minnie Viands Shiflett, and 12 siblings are now deceased.
Mr. Shiflett served in the U.S. Army during WWII and engaged in some Pacific military action. He retired from construction work. He was a member of McCabe Memorial Baptist Church.
Surviving are two sons, Henry V. Shiflett of Danville, and Charles Aaron Shiflett of Lynchburg; and one granddaughter, Kaitlin. Special thanks go to friends Thelma Martin, Morris and Susie Walthall,and James and Marie Garrett who watched out for Henry many years.
His funeral service will be on Thursday, December 21, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Roselawn Funeral Home with Dr. Rev. G.H. Vaughan officiating the service and interment following in the Roselawn Burial Park. Online condolences may be made to www.roselawnchapelfuneralhome.com.
