Henry Ellis Oliver age 77 of Martinsville, passed away Monday January 13, 2014 at Memorial Hospital of Martinsville. He was born August 28, 1936 in Person County, NC to the late Ivie Banks and Ellen Bowes Oliver. In addition to his parents, he was also predeceased by his 1st wife Bessie Oliver, 2nd wife Linnie Hutchens Oliver, his brother Lynn Oliver, two step-sons, Jimmy and Carlton Bowen, and nephew George Oliver.

He attended First Baptist Church of Bassett, and was retired from J & J Southeast Container, Co. with 32 years service. He also worked for the Nelson Group, and was a funeral attendant at Roselawn Chapel Funeral Home.

He is survived by his special friend, Amanda Martin of Martinsville, 1 daughter Dale Eggert of Roxboro, NC, 1 step daughter, Shirley Morton of Axton, 2 step sons, Michael Bowen of Florence, SC, and Eugene "Junior" Bowen of Burlington, NC, 2 brothers, Harry and Roy Oliver both of Roxboro, NC, 2 sisters, Gracie Pleasant and Inez Horner both of Roxboro, NC, 13 step grandchildren, and many step great grandchildren.

The memorial service will be Thursday Jan. 16, 2014 in the Roselawn Chapel at 2:00 pm with Pastor Mike Hundley officiating. Interment will be private. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service on Thursday.
