Henry Jackson Clark age 88 of 600 Indian Village Road, Martinsville, VA, died Friday August 13, 2010 at Franklin Health and Rehab in Rocky Mount, VA. He was born June 25, 1922 in the "Shooting Creek" area of Floyd County to the late Jackson and Lillie Boyd Clark.. In addition to his parents, he was also predeceased by his wife Geneva Hall Clark in 1979, one son, Raymond Clark, four brothers, William, Homer, Alvin, and Charlie Clark, and two sisters, Gracie Hall and Susan Clark. Mr. Clark was the last surviving member of his family.
He served in the Army during WWII with the 380th Field Artillery Unit. He worked at Stanley Furniture Company for 42 years as a machinist, and was a part-time farmer. He was a member of Day Star Ministries Church, the American Legion, and served in the CCC during the Depression.
He is survived by two sons, Randy Clark of Fieldale, and Jerry Clark of Martinsville, one daughter Julie Poteat of Blue Ridge, VA, three grandchildren, Eric and Rebecca Clark, Beverly and Steven Cecil, Ashley and Scott Coleman, and three great grandchildren, Katherine Cecil, Jackson Cecil, Amelia Thornton, and Special Friend Pauline Foley.
The funeral service will be Sunday August 15, 2010 at 2:00 PM in the Roselawn Chapel with Rev. Ken Cleveland and Pastor Sammy Caldwell officiating. Interment will follow in Pleasant Grove Christian Church Cemetery with Military graveside honors by The Martinsville/Henry County Veterans Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 2:00 prior to the service on Sunday, and at other times at the home of his son Randy Clark at 2640 Dillon's Fork Road, Fieldale.
