Hassel Thompson "Tom" Rogers, age 77, of 281 Andra Drive, Ridgeway, died on August 08, 2011 at the Blue Ridge Rehab Center, Martinsville. He was born in Patrick County on January 03, 1934 to the late Rouche and Mary Smith Rogers. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by two brothers, Jessie and Hubert Rogers, and three sisters, Nell Watkins, Lillie Kipps and Elsie Burton.
He had served in the U.S. Army as a paratrooper and was an avid golfer. He had owned and operated several Laundromats in the area.
He is survived by his wife of the home, Jane Rogers, a brother James Rogers of Norfolk, a sister, Kate Edwards of Kings Grant, and three nephews.
His graveside funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 11, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. in the Roselawn Burial Park. Pastor T.J. Phillips will officiate the service. Military rites will be presented by the Martinsville-Henry County Veterans Honor Guard and the U.S. Army. The family will receive friends at the chapel of Roselawn for one hour prior to the service.
Memorial donations may be made to the Donor's choice in memory of Mr. Rogers.
