Harry Dillard Smith, Jr., age 87, of Blairs, Va. and formerly of Paul Street, Collinsville, died on Tuesday, July 12, 2011, at the Piney Forrest Nursing Center in Danville. He was born on May, 03, 1924 in Bassett to the late Harry Dillard Smith, Jr. and Grace Morris Smith. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his wife, Estelle Smith in 1997, a brother, Dewey Smith, two sisters, Mattie S. Ferguson and Katherine S. Lacy.
He was a member of Stone Memorial Christian Church and attended Chestnut Level Baptist Church in Blairs, Virginia. He was a WWII veteran of the U.S. Army. He had worked for Frith Construction Company for over 30 years.
He is survived by his only daughter, Deborah Smith Touchstone of Blairs, Virgnia.
The funeral service will be held on Friday, July 15, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Roselawn Funeral Home with Pastor Bruce Miller officiating the service. Interment will follow with Military honors by the Martinsville/Henry County Veterans Honor Guard in the Roselawn Burial Park. The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 14, 2011 in the chapel of Roselawn from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m..
