Greely Oscar Hylton age 91 of 2682 Riverside Drive, Bassett, died April 18, 2013 at Memorial Hospital of Martinsville. He was born Dec. 29, 1921 in Patrick County to the late James Emmett and Pearlie May Ingram Hylton. In addition to his parents, he was also predeceased by his wife Euvada Davis Hylton in June of 2011, three brothers, William, James and Leonard Hylton, and three sisters, Eva Mae Prillaman, Elsie Gravely, and Fannie Turner.

He was a member of Bassett Memorial UMC, and a WWII Army veteran who was awarded the European-Eastern Service Ribbon, American Theater Service Ribbon, the World War II Victory Ribbon and the Good Conduct Medal during his 2 years of service overseas. He had retired from Fieldcrest Mills with over 39 years of service.

He is survived by two daughters, Elizabeth Mack of Live Oak, FL and Janice Mawyer of Penhook, three step-daughters, Debbie Boseman of Grovetown, GA, Brenda Dillon of Bassett and Joyce Sanders of Knoxville,TN, two step-sons, Leroy Sheppard of Johnson City, TN and Alan Spraker of Bassett, a brother, Donald Ray Hylton of Woolwine, 9 step-grandchildren, 24 step-great-grandchildren, and 4 step great-great-grandchildren.

His funeral service will be held on Monday April 22, 2013 at 11:00 AM in the chapel of Roselawn Funeral Home with Rev. Russ Gresham officiating the service and interment following with military rites by the Martinsville-Henry Co. Veterans Honor Guard in the Henry Memorial Park. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the funeral service in the chapel of Roselawn, and at other times at the home on 2682 Riverside Drive, Bassett.
