Goldie Marie Rogers, age 81 of Winter Haven, FL, and formerly of Martinsville, died Friday June 25, 2010 in Winter Haven Hospital. She was born August 25, 1928 in Henry County to the late George E. Massey and Jennie Bryant. In addition to her parents, she was also predeceased by her husband Willie Guy Nester.
She was a truck driver and has the distinction of being one of the first long distance female drivers. She drove for Refrigerated Transport of Atlanta, GA. She was a member of the Primitive Baptist Church, American Legion Auxiliary, and the Women of the Moose.
She is survived by two daughters, Linda Nester of Winter Haven, FL, and Cynthia Douglas of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, two sons, Bobby Nester of Winter Haven, FL, and Kenneth Nester of Martinsville, eight grandchildren, and 15 great grandchildren.
There will be a graveside service in Roselawn Burial Park on Wednesday June 30, 2010 at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow the service. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Tuesday June 29, 2010 at Roselawn Chapel Funeral Home. The family will also receive friends on Wednesday after the service at the home of her son Kenneth Nester, 289 Preston Road, Martinsville.
