Gloria Bishop Portis, age 87, formerly of Ridgeway, passed away on Sunday, November 24, 2013 at the Woodhaven Nursing Home in Moneta. She was born on April 18, 1926 in Winston-Salem, NC to the late Charlie and Gladys Wilkes Bishop. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Portis in 2010.

Gloria attended Starling Avenue Baptist Church for many years, and she had retired from DuPont with over 35 years service as a Supervisor. She was very active with the Aquatic Class at the YMCA.

Gloria Portis was a very loving wife to her husband Lewis, loving Mother to her son, Donald W. "Don" Portis and daughter-in-law Vickie of Roanoke and a loving grandmother to her granddaughter, Ashley Busing of Manhattan, NY. She is also survived by one brother Charlie Bishop of Roanoke one nephew, Bobby Bishop of Salem and one niece, Gloria Meadors of Dublin.

The funeral service will be Wednesday Nov. 27, 2013 at 11:00 am in the Roselawn Chapel with Dr. Rev. David Adkins officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Burial Park. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 6:30 pm on Tuesday Nov. 26, 2013.
