Geraldine Martin Mahaffey, age 88, of 61 Woodward Drive, Collinsville, died on Thursday, July 7, 2011 at Memorial Hospital of Martinsville. She was born on February 01, 1923 in Vinton, Virginia to the late Clarence and Minnie Parker Martin. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her husband, Walter L. "Bill" Mahaffey, and four brothers, Linwood Martin, Walker Martin, Ray Martin and Allen Martin.
She was a graduate of Stewartsville High School, a member of Collinsville Baptist Church, and had retired from Tultex with 25 years of service.
She is survived by her two daughters, Judy McCubbins and Karen Turner both of Collinsville, three sisters, Frances Doss of Roanoke, Jean Altice and Joyce West both of Salem, three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Her funeral service will be held on Monday, July 11, 2011 in the chapel of Roselawn Funeral Home at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Tracy Freeman officiating the service. Interment will follow in Roselawn Burial Park. The family will receive friends on Monday, one hour prior to the service at Roselawn.
