George T. Lester, III age 81, formerly of Collinsville, died Saturday, Dec. 10, 2016 at Morningside in the West End in Richmond. He was born in Martinsville on Sept. 4, 1935 to the late G.T. Lester, Jr. and Annie Waid Lester. In addition to his parents, he was also predeceased by his wife, Janet Frith Lester on Mar. 8, 2016, and his brother, Clarence Lee Lester.
He graduated from Martinsville High School, Class of 1951, attended Bluefield College and National Business College, worked at Lester Lumber Company and then ran his own construction company. He served as a Private First Class in the Army National Guard and Army Reserve. He loved eating out, walking his dog(s), going fast in cars, go-carts, motorcycles, helicopters and airplanes.
He is survived by two daughters, Victoria "Vicki" Lester and Catherine "Cathy" Lester, both of Richmond, his sister Rebecca "Becky" Stone, niece Katherine "Kathy" Ann Stone Beyer, his brother, Morton W. Lester and sister in-law Margaret E. Lester, nieces Courtney Lester Bell and Beverly Lester Coleman and nephew Curtiss Lester.
Services will be held at Roselawn Chapel Funeral Home on Tuesday, Dec. 13, 2016 at 1:00 pm. Interment will follow in Roselawn Burial Park.
