Genevieve Brammer Wood Crews age 91, formerly of Martinsville, died Sunday Jan.13, 2013 at Lavine & Dickson Hospice House in Huntersville, NC. She was born June 20, 1921 in Patrick County to the late Samuel Nelson and Florence Alice Brammer Wood. In addition to her parents, she was also predeceased by her husband, Melvin Edward Crews, Jr. in 2001, four brothers, Carl, Jesse, Buren and Robert "Hoy" Wood, and two sisters, Anna Bell and Mildred Wood.

She attended the Virginia School for the Deaf and Blind, was a member of the Fraternal Association of the Deaf, the Virginia Association of the Deaf, and was Woman of the Year for 1966 in the Martinsville Association of the Deaf. She attended Starling Avenue Baptist Church and retired from Tultex Knitting with 21 years of service.

She is survived by two sons, Danny P. Crews of Mountain Valley, and William Lee Crews of Charlotte, one granddaughter, and one brother, Herbert C. Wood of Meadows of Dan.

The funeral service will be Friday Jan. 18, 2013 at 11:00 AM in the Roselawn Chapel with Rev. Pamela Howell Culler officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Burial Park. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service on Friday in the Chapel at Roselawn, also from 7:00 to 9:00 PM on Thursday Jan.17, in the Roselawn Chapel, and at other times at the home of her son on 55 Sharon Drive, Mountain Valley.
