Mr. Gene Curtis ("G.C.") Holliday, 80, born in Welch West Virginia, a native and resident of Martinsville, VA, with a residency in Haines City, Florida, passed on June 9, 2015, at Chippenham Hospital of Richmond, VA after an extended illness.

G.C. was a veteran of the Vietnam War and was involved in many activities and philanthrophic efforts to assist veterans. For many years, G.C. worked for Dupont, Columbia Forest, VA Mirror Trucking Company, R.P. Thomas Trucking and National Homes.

G.C. is survived by his wife of 54 years, Nancy Murphy Holliday and his daughter, Pamela Holliday Champigny and her husband Richard Champigny, Jr., both of Chesterfield, Va. Additionally, he is survived by his sister Mary Burke, of Danville, and his grandchildren: Amy James, Courtney Savoy, Richard Champigny, III, and Kurt Holliday. He has four surviving great grandchildren: Madison Savoy, Sonny Savoy, Benjamin Champigny, and Marley James.

He was preceded in death by his parents Roy Lee and Gertrude Holliday, son Charles Lee ("Bud") Holliday, sister, Helen Gibbons, and brothers, Bobby Holliday, Thomas Holliday and Fitzhugh Holliday.

The visitation is Friday, June 12, 2015, from 6p-8p at Roselawn Chapel Funeral Home, 103 Clearview Drive, Martinsville, Va. His funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 13, 2015, at Roselawn Funeral Home with Rev. Jeff Evans officiating the service. Interment will follow in the Roselawn Burial Park with military honors presented by the Martinsville Henry County Veterans Honor Guard and the U.S. Navy.
