Gaston Lee Love age 92, formerly of Grayson Street, Martinsville, died Sunday October 31, 2010 at Memorial Hospital of Martinsville & Henry County. He was born December 11, 1917 in Westfield, NC to the late Samuel Lee and Annie Hunter Love. In addition to his parents, he was also predeceased by his wife, Geneva Grant Love in 2008, and two brothers, Hassell and Hal Love.
He was a graduate of Westfield High School, and was a veteran of WWII, having attained the rank of Technical Sergeant in the Army Air Corp, where he saw action in North Africa, Sicily, Southern France, Northern France, Rhineland, Balkans, and Apennines. For his service he was awarded The Purple Heart, American Defense Service Medal, Good conduct Medal, EAMET Campaign Medal with 2 Silver Stars, and one Bronze Service Star, and the Distinguished Unit Medal with the 31st Fighter Group. He was a member of Bible Baptist Church, was retired from DuPont, and was a member of the Disabled American Veterans.
He is survived by one son Terry Lee Love of Wilmington, NC, one daughter and son-in-law Brenda Gail and Farrell Kennedy of Cary, NC, one grandson, Grant Kennedy, two brothers, Roby and A.C. Love of Siloam, NC and special caregiver, Pat Hokanson.
The graveside service will be Tuesday November 2, 2010 at 11:00 AM in Roselawn Burial Park with Revs. Tracy Freeman, and Raymond Moorefield officiating. Military honors will be rendered by the Martinsville Henry County Veterans Honor Guard. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service in the Roselawn Chapel.
