Gary Lynn Vernon, age 49 of 1709 Hanover Ave., Apt. 3, Richmond, VA, died Sunday, March 15, 2009 at his home. He was born in Martinsville on September 13, 1959 to the late George F. Vernon and Martha Ann Meeks Peters of Bassett. In addition to his father he was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Robert A. and Maggie Roberson Meeks.
He was of the Brethern Faith. He attended Bassett High School. He was the Assistant Manager at the Baja Bean Restaurant in Richmond
He is survived in addition to his mother, Martha Ann Meeks Peters of Bassett, three brothers, George F. Vernon, Jr. of Ormond Beach, FL, Alan Dale Vernon of Fieldale and David Wayne Peters of Bassett, one sister, Brenda K. Peters of Collinsville and seven nephews and one niece.
The funeral will be held on Thursday, March 19, 2009 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Roselawn Funeral Home, with Rev. Bobby McGhee officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Burial Park. Family will receive friends on Thursday, March 19, 2009 before the service from 12:30-2 p.m. and at other times at the home of his sister, Brenda Peters at 522 Colonial Drive, Collinsville.
