Everett Miller age 90 of Martinsville, died Saturday April 16, 2010 at the Golden Living Center in Martinsville. He was born September 24, 1919 in Neponset, IL to the late Lyman and Eda Black Miller. In addition to his parents, he was also predeceased by his four brothers, Wilbur, Wayne, Warren, and Lyman Miller, and one sister, Helen Miller.
He served in the U.S. Army during WWII and rose to the rank of 1ST SGT. Among the decorations he earned was the Bronze Star Medal for Valor, the European-African-Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon, American Campaign Medal, and World War II Victory Medal. He was of the Methodist faith, and was self-employed in the excavation business.
He is survived by his wife Leontina C. Poppe Miller of the home, two daughters, Linda Miller of Henry, and Maryen M. Lew of Phillipsbug, NJ, one sister Anna Scott of IL, four grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.
The funeral service will be Monday April 19, 2010 at 2:00 PM in the Roselawn Chapel with Rev. Ken Cleveland officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Burial Park with Military Graveside Honors by the Martinsville-Henry County Veterans Honor Guard. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service in the Roselawn Chapel.
