Everett L Janney, Jr. age 77 of 16 Lancer Trail Court, Ridgeway, died Sunday April 25, 2010 at Pioneer Health Services of Patrick County. He was born June 27, 1932 in Bluff City, VA to the late Everett L. Janney, Sr. and Ruby Peters Janney. In addition to his parents, he was also predeceased by two sisters, Evelyn J. Lawson, and Mary J. Frazier.
He attended Rich Acres Baptist Church, and was a U.S. Air Force veteran having served during the Korean Conflict. He was retired from Winn-Dixie with 35 years service as manager of the meat department, and also worked for the Martinsville Hydro Electric Dam.
He is survived by his wife Thelma Carter Janney of the home, one son and daughter in law, Everett Lance and Terri T. Janney of Ridgeway, one daughter, Elaine Janney of Ridgeway, sister, Frances J. Smith of Daleville, VA, sisters and brothers in law, Elizabeth J. and Ken Gibbs of Martinsville, and Charlotte J. and Calvin Lawson of Stuart, five grandchildren, Jonathan Stuart Mitchell of Elliston, Jacky Rey Moran, Addyson Kate Janney, Chandler Roberts, Jeanette J. Flanagan and her husband Kevin Flanagan, all of Ridgeway, and two great grandchildren, William Blake Flanagan, and Daniel Lee Flanagan both of Ridgeway.
The funeral service will be Tuesday April 27, 2010 at 11:30 at Rich Acres Baptist Church with Pastor Gary Hughes officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Burial Park with military honors by the Martinsville Henry County Veterans Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:30 prior to the service on Tuesday at the Church, and at other times at the home on 16 Lancer Trail Court, Ridgeway.
