Evelyn Faye Maxey age 77 of Martinsville, went Home to be with the Lord on Friday April 29, 2016. She was born Feb. 23, 1939 in Wythe County, VA to the late Floyd R. and Maggie Anders Webb. In addition to her parents, she was also predeceased by her first husband, Wilmer Gunter, her daughter Sharon Warden, five brothers, Dennis, Paul, Jimmy, Clarence, and Rev. Eugene Webb, two sisters, Joyce Johnson, and Audrey Hundley.
She was a member of Spring Street Baptist Church, and retired from Hooker Furniture Co. with 28 years of service.
She is survived by her husband of 24 years Grady Maxey of the home, three sons, Michael E. Gunter of Critz, Terry Wayne Gunter of Axton, and Phillip and wife Debbie Gunter of Bassett, two daughters, Kathy Faye Hardy and husband Glen of Chatham, Tammy Ferguson and husband Ricky of Bassett, three step daughters, Tina Maxey of Blairs, Wendy Maxey and Lisa Clark, both of Collinsville, son in law Gary Warden of Clifton Forge, three brothers, Floyd Webb, Jr. of Reidsville, Mickey Webb of Collinsville, and William T. Webb and wife Juianna of Ewing, VA, one sister, Nancy Deandrea of Danville, 18 grandchildren, 3 step grandchildren, and 23 great grandchildren.
Mrs. Maxey's funeral service will be Sunday May 1, 2016 at 3:00 pm in the Roselawn Chapel with Pastors Nick McCorquodale and Ricky Hundley officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 3:00 prior to the service in the chapel, and at other times at the home of her daughter at 7 Augusta St., Bassett. Interment will be private in Roselawn Burial Park.
