Ernest Calvin Conner, Sr. age 82, formerly of Ridgeway, died Thursday Dec. 1, 2011 at Pine View Assisted Living Facility in South Hill, VA. He was born June 15, 1929 in Martinsville to the late Opie R. and Hattie Ellen McCrickard Conner. In addition to his parents, he was also predeceased by his wife Marian Conner in 2010, and one sister, Thalia Horsley.
He was a US Army veteran, and a member of Smith Memorial Pentecostal Holiness Church. He was retired from E.I. DuPont in Martinsville with over 34 years service in the maintenance section.
He is survived by two sons, Ernest "Ernie" Conner of South Hill, and Ronald Conner of Richmond, one brother, Raymond Conner of Martinsville, and one sister Norma Jean Smith of Reidsville, NC, and three grandchildren.
The graveside service will be Sunday December 4, 2011 at 2:00 PM in Roselawn Burial Park with Revs. Barry Crumpton and Gerald Pearce officiating. Military Honors will be provided by the Martinsville Henry County Veterans Honor Guard. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service in the chapel of Roselawn Funeral Home.
