Eric Dean Guthrie, 56, of Penhook, Virginia, passed away, Friday, November 2, 2018.  He was born in White Sands, New Mexico, a son of the late Carl and Cecilia Guthrie.  Eric Dean spent the majority of his life residing in the Penhook area and the Columbus, Georgia area.  He was a farmer and a sailor in the U.S. Navy.  During his time in Columbus, Eric worked with his family in the tree service business.  In recent years, he worked as a logger at a local sawmill.  Eric was an avid outdoorsman who thrived in nature.  He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, playing guitar, reading and the beauty of the mountainous lands he called home.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four siblings, Sylvia, Charles, Gale and his identical twin, Oscar Lee.  He is survived by four loving siblings, Frank J. Guthrie, John F. Guthrie, Carol Ann S. Conner and Waultraud "Trixie" Eslick.  He also is survived by his numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, great-nieces and great-nephews.
