Elsie Merle Goad Hodges age 77, of Mt. Juliet, TN and formerly of Martinsville, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday March 13, 2012 at Mt. Juliet Healthcare Center. She was born August 7, 1934 in Dugspur, VA to the late Charles Frederick and Ocie Hull Goad. In addition to her parents, she was also predeceased by her husband James Andrew "Tom" Hodges in October 2009, her brothers, Leonard, Dennis, Alvin, and Delmar Goad, and three sisters, Ardith Peril Goad, Hattie Goad, and Cassie Goad Smythers.
She was a longtime active member of Martinsville Church of God. She retired as a sewing machine operator at Bassett-Walker Knitting.
She is survived by her daughter and son in law, Rebecca H. and David Begarly of Mt. Juliet, TN, one grandson, Dustin Cart of Denver, CO, one step grandson, Wayne Begarly of Knoxville, TN, two sisters, Mattie Goad of Hillsville, and Geneva Goad of Galax, and numerous nephews and nieces.
The funeral service will be Saturday March 17, 2012 at 2:00 PM in the Roselawn Chapel with Pastor Jimmy Wood officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Burial Park. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM prior to the service.
