Obituary

Elmer Lewis, age 93, of 9020 Chatham Road, Martinsville, died on Monday, March 11, 2013 at Roanoke Memorial Hospital. He was born in Franklin County on February 22, 1920 to the late Samuel Earnest and Julie Barber Lewis. In addition to his parents he was preceeded in death by three brothers, Luther, Thomas and Roy Lewis, and two sisters, Edna Lovell and Sissie Sowder.

He was the oldest member of Valley Chapel Pentecostal Holiness Church and had retired as a repairman from Hooker and American Furniture Companies.

He is survived by his wife of 69 years Estelle Coe Lewis, his son, Wayne Lewis of Axton, three daughters, Shirley Johnston of Martinsville, Jackie Davis of Bassett and Cathy Wallace of Fieldale, seven grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.

His funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 14, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Roselawn Funeral Home with Pastors Jody Pollard, Michael Jordan and Leonard Hall officiating the service. Interment will follow in the Roselawn Burial Park. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 13, 2013 from 6-8 p.m. in the chapel of Roselawn and at other times at the home at 9020 Chatham Road.
