Earnest Eugene Oakes, age 68, of A L Philpott Road, Martinsville, died on February 10, 2014 at the Roanoke Memorial Hospital. He was born on June 05, 1945 in Martinsville to the late Otis Dewey and Helen Jupin Oakes. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers, James Dewey Oakes, William Richard Oakes and Garland Lee Oakes.

He was of the Baptist faith and had been disabled for many years.

He is survived by his sister, Nancy and her husband, Eddie Ashby of Martinsville, three nephews and a niece.

His funeral service will be held on Monday, February 17, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Roselawn Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. David Adkins officiating the service and interment following in the Roselawn Burial Park. The family will receive friends on Monday one hour prior to the service in the chapel of Roselawn.
