Obituary

Drew Marchant Thomson age 68 of Martinsville died Tuesday April 6, 2010 as a result of injuries he received in a motorcycle accident. He was born December 9, 1941 in San Jose, California to the late Herbert Ernest Horn and Shirley Horn Hoffman of PaPaw, MI. In addition to his father, he was predeceased by his adoptive parents, Hazel and Ray Marrit, and one brother Teddy Hoffman.
He had been a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and was a 20 year veteran of the U.S. Navy where he was awarded the Navy Unit Commendation Medal, Presidential Unit Citation, Vietnam Meritorious Unit Citation, and two awards of the Good Conduct Medal.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by two sons, Drew Marchant Thomson, Jr. of Roanoke, and Drew Israel Thomson of Martinsville, three daughters, Cathell "DiDi" Thomson of Roanoke, Sherinda Thomson of Roanoke, and Allishia Chastity Thomson of Martinsville, three brothers, Terry Lee Thomson of Flagstaff, AZ, George Hoffman of PaPaw, MI, and Tommy Hoffman of Jacksonville, FL., one sister Linda Hoffman of Kalamazoo, MI, and seven grand children.
The funeral service was Saturday April 10, 2010 at 10:00 AM at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Bassett with President Gordon Hodnett officiating. Interment followed in Roselawn Burial Park with military honors rendered by the Martinsville Henry County Veterans Honor Guard. Pallbearers were: Archie Shelton Bill Agee Michael Turner Elder Rivera Charles Sechrist Elder Harding Gordon Hodnet
