Douglas Elwood "Doug" Myers age 82 of Collinsville went home to be with the Lord on Sunday May 22, 2016 after a battle with cancer. He was born July 9, 1933 in Stanleytown, to the late Marvin Everette and Estelle Coleman Myers. In addition to his parents, he was also predeceased by his brother Ronald Myers.

Doug was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He worked for 27 years at Pannill Knitting Co., and then pursued his passion for cars and trucks. He was a co-owner of D & B Auto Sales, and later owner of Myers Auto Sales in Bassett. He was a U.S. Army veteran. Doug will be remembered for his love of hunting, NASCAR, the Washington Redskins, and western novels and movies. He was also a long time member of Fort Trial Baptist Church, and was a faithful servant of God. He read his bible every night before going to bed and, never turned down a friend or family member in need. Doug will be missed by all who knew him.

Doug is survived by his wife of 60 years, Margaret Wright Myers of the home, two sons, Donald Myers of Houston, TX, and Timothy and wife Angie Myers of Horsepasture, one daughter, Beth Myers Crider of Houston, TX, two sisters, Jean Haynes Moore of Martinsville, and Betty Edwards Brazzell of Waxhaw, NC, six grandchildren, Christopher Lee Myers, Jason Lee Myers, Jordan Allan Myers, Zachary Alexander Crider, Emily Kate Myers, and Katherine Elizabeth Crider, one great grandchild, Allan Lee Myers.

The graveside service for Doug will be held Friday May 27, 2016 at 11:00 am in Roselawn Burial Park with Minister Lawrence Harris officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn with military honors by the Martinsville Henry County Veterans Honor Guard.
