Doris Wells, 88, went to her heavenly home peacefully, July 31, 2024, surrounded by family at Lexington Medical Center, Lexington, SC after declining health over the last 8 months.
She was born September 16, 1935, in Martinsville, VA to the late TG and Geneva Moran.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Clifton Wells and great-grandson, Xavier Wells.
Doris was a member of Mt. Calvary Pentecostal Holiness Church from 1953 until she passed. She was an active member volunteering in many areas of ministry including President of Youth Sunday Nights and Women's Ministry. She attended Martinsville High School, worked for Frank's Food Fair Supermarket and was an associate at CVS until retirement. Mostly, she loved being a wife, mom and grandma.
Doris is survived by a son, Ronald (Gwen) Wells of Greensboro, NC and daughter, Sylvia Wells of Columbia, SC. Four grandchildren; Julie (Jason) McBride, Matthew (Ana) Wells, Casey (Karl) Sharp, and Bradford (Denise) Wells. Five great-grandchildren; Maria Garris, Austin Branch, Reed Marion, Chloe Wells and Angelina Wells. One great-great-granddaughter, Scarlett Jane Garris. Sister; Karen Shelton and many nieces and nephews.
Doris was very proud of the fact that within her family there were five generations, three times in her lifetime. The first with the birth of her oldest granddaughter, who shares the same birthday with Doris. Next, with the birth of her oldest great-granddaughter and the third with the birth of her great-great-granddaughter.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2pm on Monday, August 5, 2024, at Roselawn Chapel Funeral Home, Martinsville with Reverend Gary Tatum and Bishop Brian J Smith officiating. Family will receive friends two hours prior to service. Interment following in Roselawn Burial Park.
