Doris Gardner Smith, age 71, of 709 Forest Street, Martinsville, died on June 4, 2013 at her residence. She was born in Martinsville to the late Wiley Berry Gardner and Mary Blevins Gardner on Feb. 18, 1942. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Wiley D. Gardner.

She had worked for Pannill Knitting until becoming disabled.

She is survived by her husband, Donnie Lee Smith of the home, a daughter, Donna Baliles of Martinsville, four sisters, Lolene Robertson of Bedford, Thelma Kilby, Mary Gammons and Irene Lovell all of Martinsville, three grandchildren, Leanna Thomas, Lonnie Boyd, Jr. and Daniel Ward, and three great-grandchildren, Corbin Thomas, Aiden Thomas and Alicia Boyd.

Her service will be private.
