Don C. Smith, 76, of Bassett, passed away Tuesday, September 6, 2022, at his residence. He was born August 19, 1946, to the late Doyle Dean and Patricia Haney Smith. He was retired after thirty years with Roll-A-Bout Skating Center in Collinsville. Don served in the United States Army Special Forces during the Vietnam Conflict, he was of the Baptist faith. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother; Stanley Alan Smith. Surviving is his wife of 54 years Katherine Smith, two daughters; and sons-in-law; Lisa and Mark Pruitt, and Carrie and Larry Holt, and four grandchildren; Cody Holt, Scotlyn Pruitt, Evan Pruitt, and Lundyn Holt.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, September 10, 2022, in the Roselawn Chapel Funeral Home with Jerry Sowers and Ronnie Dillard officiating. The Martinsville-Henry County Veterans Memorial Honor Guard will provide full military honors, and burial will be private. The family will receive friends two hours before services beginning at 12:00 Noon, in the Roselawn Chapel Funeral Home. The family requested that memorial donations be made to The American Heart Association, 4217 Park Place Ct instead of flowers.
