Delma Mae Griffith Johnson age 88, formerly of Clearview Drive, Martinsville, died Friday Dec. 30, 2011 at Blue Ridge Rehab Center in Martinsville. She was born July 14, 1923 in Ferrum to the late Captain Perry and Sallie Young Griffith. In addition to her parents, she was also predeceased by her husband, Henry Johnson, one son, Jimmy Johnson, one daughter, Deanna J. Brewster, one grandson, Mark Johnson, five brothers, J.D., Herman, Willie, Homer, and Hub Griffith, and two sisters, Doris Teague and Beulah Hale.
She was a member of McCabe Memorial Baptist Church and was retired from Dan River Mills.
She is survived by two sons, Gene Johnson of Axton, and David Johnson of Martinsville, two sisters, Mamie Bouldin of Collinsville, and Susie Johnson of Ferrum, five grandchildren, and five great grandchildren.
The funeral service will be Monday Jan. 2, 2012 at 2:00 PM in the Roselawn Chapel with Rev. Lewis Harris officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Burial Park. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service in the Chapel, and at other times at the home of her son on 200 Gray Leaf Circle, Martinsville.
