Daniel Curtis Minter age 91 of 3181 Mosco Road, Axton died Friday October 1, 2010 at his home. He was born November 9, 1918 in Henry County to the late Tommie Joe and Myrtle Dora Bray Minter. In addition to his parents he was also predeceased by two grandchildren, Cynthia Hagwood, and Michael Caldwell, four brothers, Glen, Grover, Walter, and Mitchell Minter, and one sister Gertrude Sage.
He has been a member of Axton Baptist Church for over 54 years, and had served as a Deacon, on the Building and Grounds, Finance and Fund Raising Committees. He retired from Dan River Mills with over 40 years of service, was a farmer, and a well known produce distribution entrepreneur.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Mildred Louise Minter of the home, seven daughters, Nancy Haynes and Patricia Lawton of Axton, Julia Crews of Mountain Valley, Shirley Massey of Chapel Hill, NC, Myrtle Waugh of Roanoke, Cherry Minter of Ridgeway, and Vickie Walton of Danville, one brother, Clifton Minter of Axton, two sisters, Nancy Inman of Danville, and Irene Powell of Reidsville, NC, 9 grandchildren, 4 step grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren.
The funeral service will be Monday October 4, 2010 at 11:00 AM in Axton Baptist Church with the Revs. Woody Massey, Gil Hawks, and Tony Lundy officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Burial Park. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 PM on Sunday October 3, 2010 in the Roselawn Chapel, and at other times at the home on 3181 Mosco Road, Axton.
