Daisy Bates Crews, age 89, of Cascade, died on Monday, January 10, 2011 at the Danville Medical Regional Hospital, Danville, VA. She was born in Pittsylvania County to the late Joe C. and Mary Moore Bates on July 04, 1921. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her husband of 68 years, D.T. Crews in August, 2009, four sons, Robert, Leroy, James Crews and Lloyd Hopkins, five brothers, Joe, Jim, Stanford, Roger and Randy Bates, three sisters, Helen Burnette, Wyonna Bates and Kathlene Robertson and a grandson, Raymond Hamlett.
She was of the Pentecostal Holiness Faith and a homemaker.
She is survived by two sons, Raymond D. Crews and Richard R. Crews both of Cascade, three daughters, Elsie Davis of Cascade, Fannie Collins of Danville and Annie Seal of Lynchburg, eighteen grandchildren and thirty great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 12, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Roselawn Funeral Home with Rev. Phillip Woods officiating the service. Interment will follow in the Roselawn Burial Park. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.
