Clayton Edward Wright, 84, formerly of Axton, died Thursday August 13, 2020, at Sovah Health of Martinsville. He was born on May 23, 1936, to the late Samuel and Beulah Lackey Wright. He was retired from Virginia Mirror as a security officer. He was a long time employee of Hooker, Pulaski and American Furniture Companies. He was a devoted husband, father, Papa and brother who loved and enjoyed his family. He loved his Lord and singing and worshiping Him and was a member of Bethany Baptist Church.  In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Nancy Stone Wright, five brothers; Grady, Noel, Lem, Chester and Eulas Wright, one sister, Mae Wright Adams. Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Sheldon and Gloria Wright, one daughter and son-in-law; Sharon and Rev. Reggie Steele, one brother and wife; Arthur and Mary Lou Wright, one sister-in-law Virginia Murphy Wright and a granddaughter, Amy Faith Steele and several special nephews and nieces.  Due to the Covid-19 restrictions, the family has requested a private Graveside service (Family Only) to be held 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, August 18, 2020, in the Roselawn Burial Park with Rev. Reggie Steele officiating. In Lieu of flowers the family has requested that memorials be made to God's Pit Crew, 2499 North Main Street Danville, Virginia 24540.
