Claude Oscar "Babe" Gardner age 75 of Axton passed away on Nov. 25, 2013 at Memorial Hospital of Martinsville. He was born July 17 1938 in New Jersey to the late Claude Allen and Nina Mildred Leavell Gardner.

Babe was retired from DuPont with over 38 years of service, and was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church. He was also a graduate of Martinsville High School Class of 1958

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Margaret Cobler Gardner of the home, one sister, Lucille Cassady of Martinsville, special sister in law Betty Tester, his special dogs, "Buddy" and "Polly", special nephews, Rick Boyd, Duke Dyckman, David Dyckman, Jordan Dyckman, Hunter Dyckman, Lyric Flood, and Wesley Dyckman, special nieces, Sara and Brooke Boyd, Tina Boyd, Leonne Wilkins, Kristin Cassady, A'Miyah Flood, Kari-Ann Dyckman, Lynette Saville, and Danielle Dyckman.

The funeral service will be Friday Nov. 29, 2013 at 3:00 pm in the Roselawn Chapel with Pastor Billy Hicks officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Burial Park. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service.
