Christopher Lee "Chris" Rutter age 48 of Axton, passed away Wednesday June 22, 2016 at his home. He was born Feb. 28, 1968 in Martinsville to the late Edgar M. "Eddie" Rutter, and Carline Perdue Rutter of Martinsville.

Chris was of the Baptist faith, and had been self-employed most of his life but also was a former truck driver and truck driving instructor. He attended Stanleytown Baptist Academy, he loved to work on cars, loved hunting and fishing, and riding his motorcycle. Chris was a good son, brother, and friend.

In addition to his mother, Carline Rutter of Martinsville, Chris is also survived by his maternal grandmother, Marie Cox of Martinsville, his brother Chad Rutter of Martinsville, his sister Sherrie R. Setliff and her husband Paul of Martinsville, two nephews, Joshua Moore of the U.S. Air Force, and Kale Rutter of Martinsville, and aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Chris's funeral service will be Monday June 27, 2016 at 11:00 am in the Roselawn Chapel with Pastors Susan Adkins, Danny Adkins and Nick McCorquodale officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Burial Park. The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 6:00 pm on Sunday June 26 in the Roselawn Chapel, and at other times at the home of Chris's mother at 150 English Road, Martinsville.
