Christine Davidson Merricks age 92, of Country Haven Drive, Ridgeway, died Sunday January 22, 2012 at Memorial Hospital of Martinsville. She was born August 31, 1919 in Franklin County to the late George Reuben and Archie Woody Slaydon Davidson. In addition to her parents, she was also predeceased by one daughter, Joyce D. Callahan, one granddaughter, April L. Merricks, one great grandson, Brandon Moore, four brothers, Taylor, Arthur, Willard, and Thomas Davidson, and three sisters, Zelma Durham, Kathlene Hodges, and Virginia McCrickard.
She was a graduate of Glade Hill High School, and retired from Pannill Knitting with over 30 years of service. She attended Trinity Friends Church.
She is survived by three sons, Lynwood E. Merricks of Martinsville, George Reuben Merricks of Union Hall, James Ronald Merricks of Ridgeway, one daughter, Diana M. Hodge of Martinsville, three sisters, Erma David of Penhook, Edna Thornton of Martinsville, and Betty Carter of Ridgeway, 10 grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren.
The funeral service will be Wednesday January 25, 2012 at 2:00 PM in the Roselawn Chapel with Rev. J.D. Harmon officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Burial Park. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 2:00 PM prior to the service on Wednesday, and at other times at the home of her daughter, Diana Hodge, 103 Farmington Court, Martinsville.
