Charles Phillip Johnston age 81 of Ridgeway, passed away Friday Feb. 2, 2018 at his home. He was born Sept. 23, 1936 in Henry County to the late Jesse Herman and Annie Frances Carter Johnston. In addition to his parents, he was also predeceased by four brothers, Jim Johnston, Paul Lester Gilbert, Leonard Wayne Gilbert and Rieves Johnston, two sisters, Dollie Mae Johnston, and Bernice Johnston Brown, one special nephew Lonnie Carter.

Charles was of the Baptist faith. He worked for American Furniture for 33 years, and Piedmont Trust Bank for 11 years.

He is survived by one brother, Vernon Franklin Gilbert of Mountain Valley, two sisters, Mary Elsie Gilbert of Mountain Valley, and Anne Marie Gilbert of Martinsville, two special nieces and nephews, Brenda Boyd and husband Roger of Bassett, and Joyce Persson and husband Gert of Newport News.

His funeral service will be Wednesday Feb. 7, 2018 at 1:00 PM in the Roselawn Chapel with Pastor Gary Hughes officiating. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service. The burial will be private. Condolences may be shared with the family through this online guestbook.
