Betty Wray Lawson, age 74, of 35 CC Lane #2, Martinsville, died on Saturday, January 23, 2010 at Memorial Hospital of Martinsville. She was born in Bassett on March 10, 1935 to the late William Glen Wray, Sr. and Fannie Wray Shelton. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by four brothers, Raymond, Shorty, Junior and Albert Wray and a sister, Audree Dehart.
She was a member of Clearview Baptist Church. She was a nurse for Dr. John R. Smith for many years. She attended Critz High School and graduated from LPN Nursing School at Martinsville General Hospital.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years, John Henry Lawson of the home, one son, Johnnie Lee Lawson of Martinsville, three daughters, Deborah L. Fulcher and Valerie L. Brown both of Martinsville and Teresa L. Wyatt of Collinsville, a half-sister, JoAnne Conner, six grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
The graveside funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 26, 2010 at 2:00 PM in Roselawn Burial Park with Rev. Ron Gardner and Rev. Ron Peal officiating. The family will receive friends for one hour prior the service in the Roselawn Chapel and at other times at the home on 35 CC Lane #2, Martinsville.
