Bessie Thompson Davis age 83, formerly of Collinsville, died Friday September 14, 2012 at Blue Ridge Rehab Center in Martinsville. She was born September 28, 1928 in McComas, WV to the late Thomas Isaac and Lydia Spicer Thompson. In addition to her parents, she was also predeceased by her husband, Blair P. Davis, her son, Timothy Thompson, five brothers, Bobby Joe, Claude, J. D., Junior, and Buddy Thompson, and five sisters, Hazel Tooley, Alma Staples, Lucille Wahner, Nannie Carr, and Imajean Spencer.
She was a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witness since 1952, and along with her husband owned and operated Goodson's Launderette for over 20 years.
She is survived by two sisters, Esther Hammitt of Middleburg, FL, and Youvone Barr of Jacksonville, FL, and her special friends and care givers, Wayne and Arlene Roach of Martinsville, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Her memorial service will be Saturday September 22, 2012 at 5:00 PM at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witness, 107 Governor's Lane, Martinsville, VA 24112, with Wayne Roach officiating. The family will receive friends for 30 minutes prior to the service at the Kingdom Hall. Inurnment will be private at Henry Memorial Park.
