Anita Overton Gilley age 70, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday July 31, 2010 at her home in Bassett. She was born September 1, 1939 in Fieldale, VA to the late Henry Joseph and Edna Pauline Huddleston Overton. In addition to her parents, she was also predeceased by her son Jeffrey A. Dilley and one brother, Eugene F. Overton.
She attended Fieldale High School, and later in life completed her GED. She worked at Tultex for 36 ½ years in the sample department, and worked as a receptionist for Economy Exterminators until her death. She was an active member of Mount Hermon Church of the Brethren where she taught Sunday School and sang in the choir.
She is survived by her son Kenneth L. Gilley and wife Evelyn of Winston-Salem, NC, granddaughter Wendy Michelle Dodson of Martinsville, grandson Nicolas Sergio Gilley of Winston-Salem, NC, two great grand children, Taylor Handy and Ben Dodson of Axton, one sister Bettye O. Fulcher and husband Sam of Collinsville, one brother Rev. Wilfred L. Overton and wife Reba of Draper, VA, sister-in-law Catherine Overton of Kent, Ohio, special family member Chad Dodson of Axton, numerous nieces and nephews and their families, and her dearest friend, Ramona Lineberry of Martinsville.
The funeral service will be Tuesday August 3, 2010 at 4:00 PM in the Roselawn Chapel with Pastor Noel Naff and Pastor Benny Dodson officiating. The burial will follow in Roselawn Burial Park. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service in the Roselawn Chapel, and at other times at the home of her sister and brother-in-law Bettye and Sam Fulcher, 1172 Daniels Creek Road, Collinsville.
