Obituary

Alma "Blue" Barnes DeVoe age 72 of Ridgeway, passed away Tuesday April 25, 2017 at Alamance Hospital in Burlington, NC. She was born April 27, 1944 in Ridgeway to the late Franklin and Alma Jenkins Barnes. In addition to her parents, she was also predeceased by three brothers, Franklin, Elwood and Virgil Barnes, three sisters, Nancy Coleman, Lelar Hollandsworth, and Louise Jenkins.

Blue was an active member of Christian View Pentecostal Holiness Church, where she served on the Church Board. She was a graduate of Drewry Mason H.S. Class of 1962, graduated from Midwestern State University with a BS degree in Accounting, was a member of the U.S. Air Force from 1963 to 1969, where she rose to the rank of SSGT, and was a retired auditor with the U.S. Justice Dept. She was also a member of Pannill Post #42, American Legion.

She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Douglas DeVoe, Sr. of the home, one son, Douglas DeVoe, Jr. and fianc, Trinidad Discua, both of Fairfax, VA, one daughter, Deborah DeVoe Miller and Grant Foley of Stuart, three brothers, Billy Barnes of Ridgeway, Bobby Barnes and wife Phyllis of Axton, Homer Barnes and wife I'lla of Charleston, SC, two sisters, Patsy Cox of Stoneville, and Betty Watkins of Ridgeway, one grandson, Jordan K. Miller of Stuart, one brother in law, David DeVoe and wife Cindy of Whitelake, MI, one uncle, Henry Jenkins and wife Naomi of Oklahoma City, OK, sister in law Joan Barnes of Martinsville, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Blue's funeral service will be Saturday April 29, 2017 at 2:00 PM in the Roselawn Chapel with Pastor Rick Wilkie officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery in Ridgeway with full military honors by the Martinsville Henry County Veterans Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 12:00 to 2:00 PM, prior to the service in the Roselawn Chapel, and at other times at the home on Lee Ford Camp Road. In lieu of flowers, donations in Memory of Blue DeVoe may be made to Pannill Post #42, American Legion, Veterans Relief Fund, P. O. Box 4082, Martinsville, VA 24115.
